As you may notice, our gallery layout now matches with the main site. Many thanks to our friend Mycah for her help making it all pretty!
I have updated the gallery with screencaps from the 30 Days of Night: Dark Days and Night of the Demons trailers. Check out the new, kick ass Night of the Demons trailer at Bloody Disgusting. A few words from Diora regarding the trailer:
Due to some of your comments, let me make this clear. In the trailer for, well, lets just call it ‘Film by idiot f*ck heads’……
…I am NOT naked. That is NOT me. Nor do I get naked in the movie. What you see is just a prosthetic piece. In the movie, that is obvious.
And there you have it!
Speaking of the movie, Night of the Demons New York premiere screening will take place Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:30pm @ Cinema Village, New York.
While at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we had a chance to sit down with the folks behind 30 Days of Night: Dark Days – producer J.R. Young, director Ben Katai, and stars Rhys Coiro, Kiele Sanchez, and Diora Baird – and by doing so, we dug up some interesting things about the sequel for you to sink your teeth into. Dig it!
Co-written by Ketai and Steve Niles, Dark Days stars Kiele (A Perfect Getaway) Sanchez (who takes over the role of ‘Stella’ from actress Melissa George from the original 30 Days of Night), Mia (De Palma’s The Black Dahlia) Kirshner, Rhys (Entourage) Coiro, Diora (Night of the Demons) Baird, Harold (Lost) Perrineau, Troy (A Marine Story) Ruptash, and Monique (Cabin in the Woods) Ganderton.
Diora Baird was drawn to the film because these were “vampires minus the glitter. These vampires are not sexy or hot. You see these vampires you want to run.”
Here’s a report of the 30 Days of Night: Dark Days panel at Comic Con last week, courtesy of ShockTillYouDrop.com. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any videos or all that many photos from the event but we’ll continue to keep our eyes peeled!
I’m a bit late to the panel as I had to come across SDCC to get here. Much of the cast minus Mia Kirshner and Harold Perrineau are on the panel along with the writer/director Ben Ketal and writer Steve Niles.
Luckily, I didn’t miss much. They show the trailer to Dark Days just as I get in and it looks pretty cool. Lots of vampires. Lots of big, tough characters and so on. How well it will carry to entire film is another story. Overall not too shabby.
They then take Facebook questions? What the hell? The room is standing room only, although there are plenty of seats, and you are taking Facebook questions?
According to AceShowbiz.com, Diora Baird will be present at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 23, 2010 to promote her upcoming film 30 Days of Night: Dark Days. Read up for further details:
7:30 P.M.-8:30 P.M.: 30 Days of Night: Dark Days (Room 7AB) – Director/co-screenwriter Ben Ketai, graphic novel creator/co-writer Steve Niles, stars Keile Sanchez, Diora Baird, and Rhys Coiro, and producer J. R. Young are on hand for an exclusive sneak peek, panel, and Q&A session.
Sony’s 30 Days of Night: Dark Days directed by Ben Ketai is hitting DVD and a Blu-ray + DVD combo pack on October 5th.
Co-written by Ketai and Steve Niles, Dark Days stars Kiele (A Perfect Getaway) Sanchez (who takes over the role of ‘Stella’ from actress Melissa George from the original 30 Days of Night), Mia (De Palma’s The Black Dahlia) Kirshner, Rhys (Entourage) Coiro, Diora (Night of the Demons) Baird, Harold (Lost) Perrineau, Troy (A Marine Story) Ruptash, Monique (Cabin in the Woods) Ganderton, and Katherine (Ginger Snaps, Supernatural) Isabelle.
No cover artwork is available yet, but we do have the discs’ specs:
Both the DVD and Blu-ray + DVD combo pack contain special features that include a filmmaker commentary and The Gritty Realism of Dark Days, a new featurette that provides an all access behind-the-scenes exploration of the production design, make-up effects and cinematography used to create the gory war on the vampires. The Blu-ray + DVD combo pack is also enhanced with an exclusive Blu-ray interactive featurette, Graphic Inspirations: From Comic to Film, which compares and contrasts the visuals of the graphic novel with the imagery from the film, with discussion by director Ben Ketai.
Be sure to check out our little Q&A with Diora Baird herself to find out how she got into acting, her experiences on working on Law & Order: SVU and 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, what her dream role is, and more.
Many thanks to Diora and her representative for giving us this wonderful opportunity!
Be sure to check out this awesome video courtesy of FEARnet. Diora discusses strong female roles, preparation for Dark Days and her appreciation of Milla Jovovich and Uma Thurman. The interview made me adore Diora even more, she’s just so intelligent and thoughtful and looks casually gorgeous.
We invited some of our favorite women of horror out to tea and let the cameras roll. In this first segment, Riki Lindhome Jen Yamato, Diora Baird, Heather Wixson and Denise Gossett discover why horror trumps comedy in roles for tough chicks.
This past week Bloody Disgusting’s Evan Katz headed up north to Vancouver to check out the set of Sony Stage 6′s 30 Days of Night: Dark Days, which is currently being directed by Ben Ketai. Beyond the break you’ll find a little teaser from set, which reveals some brand new casting including Ginger Snaps star Katherine Isabelle!
My time on the set of 30 Days of Night (Dark Days) was short, but definitely left an impression. The movie’s currently being filmed at TERMINAL CITY, a very impressive set which used to be a functioning foundry. The very textures of the buildings and neon signs reminded me strongly of the comic itself. Just from the look of the production design, I can tell that Ben Ketai has already done a fantastic job capturing the atmosphere and tone of the series.
